USA Studies Weekly—Explorers to the 1880s comes in 24 colorful student newspapers that look and feel like real newspapers. These are shipped in four shipments, or quarters, each containing 6 weekly units of study in newspaper format.
Each weekly newspaper contains a social studies lesson on United States history, geography, culture, or economics; a current event that relates to the lesson being presented; a biographical spotlight featuring prominent historic and contemporary citizens; a crossword puzzle; think and review exercises; a comic strip of American Kids; websurfing links; and more.
An extended teacher edition is included with each subscription for ten or more copies. The teacher edition contains guided reading strategies, discussion questions, word wall words, words to know, literature links, language arts connections, math connections, ESE strategies, in-depth background articles on United States history, and much more.
