Teacher Testimonial | Student and Teacher Friendly Curriculum
Video Transcript
Speaker: Rebecca W., Teacher, OH
What is your favorite feature?
Rebecca W.: There are so many valuable features in Studies Weekly, but I think my favorite feature, or what I find the most valuable, is that students can follow along in the articles while it’s being read to them. There are so many students who are just audio learners and who are able to understand the curriculum and the articles better by listening.
What makes Studies Weekly teacher and student-friendly?
Rebecca W.: I like that there are a lot of interactive activities that go along with the curriculum, and different things that you can do in addition to just the basic reading the articles, answering the questions. I love that there’s a test built into each of the lessons that meet the standards. And it just makes planning social studies for my students so much easier. It’s a huge time saver for me, and the students find it engaging, and they really enjoy, they really enjoy their lessons this way.
Rebecca's Story
After a decade in ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Technology classrooms, Rebecca has taught it all. Still, whatever subject and class she is teaching, she keeps connection with students and families at the forefront, knowing that building relationships creates an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and ready to learn.
The biggest challenge Rebecca faces in her classroom is one that will resonate with many educators: having the time to do it all. Rebecca solves this problem by prioritizing what is most essential.
“Decide what’s most important for your students and for yourself,” she advises. “Make lists, ask for help, and do your best!”
Rebecca knows it is important to persist through challenges and reach the “aha” moments where understanding clicks into place.
“Sometimes watching [my students] struggle through a situation knowing that the light bulb is coming is the most rewarding.”
