A Format Students Actually Enjoy Using
If you’re trying to manage limited time while keeping students engaged, Studies Weekly helps make both possible. The weekly publications are designed to be interactive and easy for students to use, with space to write directly on the page, highlight key ideas, and create learning artifacts that show what they know.
Studies Weekly blends hands-on print with an easy-to-use digital platform, giving teachers everything they need, including lesson supports, videos, slide decks, and assessments, all in one place.

HOW does Studies Weekly SUPPORT Alabama's Literacy Act and The Science of Reading?
Each week includes several articles, images, videos, and bonus resources that support informational text. The online and print resources blend literary and informational text styles to engage students.
“The uniqueness of Studies Weekly is that it draws students in. You don’t have a hard sell in terms of getting them interested in using the resources or getting into the content. It’s very, very, engaging.” – Director of Learning Services, AL

The program’s text complexity increases through the grade levels. Within each grade level, the text complexity is written to the appropriate Lexile band to ensure there is challenging text for all students.
Students respond to comprehension questions using evidence from each article. Questions throughout the program require a clear understanding of the main ideas and other details provided in the reading.

“It is aligned with our state standards. It makes it so easy for our teachers with the busy schedules that they have these days. Everything is accessible for them, and their instruction, down to the assessment.“ – K-12 Instructional Leader, AL
Each week, students have many opportunities to write through compelling questions, writing prompts, and call-out box prompts that encourage writing.
Compelling questions, critical thinking questions, Wellness, and Let’s Write questions are multiple ways students can collaborate and make connections to the text. These question types include narrative, descriptive, persuasive, and expository writing.

The instructional strategies in Studies Weekly provide varied grouping techniques, resulting in a balance of paired, small group, and whole-class discussions in which students reflect on their experiences and understanding of the activities. These discussions are designed to build clear communication skills that are critical to success in social studies and for college and career readiness.
Students develop a strong command of English and build academic and social studies vocabulary through reading and activities.
Studies Weekly has a progression of Tier 3 content vocabulary built into the program. Key terms are used throughout each lesson without overwhelming students with too many unfamiliar words. Each week, the vocabulary is previewed in the teacher’s edition and highlighted in the student edition, and includes activities to help solidify comprehension.
