Morgan Mercado and Taylor Wallace: Hey, I’m Morgan, and I’m Taylor, and we’re the Double Duty Teachers. We just started using Studies Weekly in our classroom this year, and we love it! We love it because it’s so easy to implement. Everything is provided for you.
There’s an online portion, print versions, the kids love it. It’s so engaging. We also teach gifted students and we find that all the extra activities that Studies Weekly gives us are so great for our higher learners.
Studies Weekly really adds to our Social Studies lessons and it makes it so easy for us to teach! We’re so happy with Studies Weekly and think you will be too.
About the Double Duty Teachers
Morgan Mercado and Taylor Wallace, known to their over 10 thousand Instagram followers as the Double Duty Teachers, are twin sisters who partner-teach 4th Grade Gifted Education.
Taylor always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She started college straight away in elementary education. It took a little longer and a few major changes for Morgan to land on the same path — mostly because she was trying to avoid doing the exact same thing as Taylor, they joke.
The two remark, “We are obviously very close, and it’s been a dream to work so closely together. We’re not afraid to share crazy ideas with each other and work together to make them happen.”
Morgan and Taylor are passionate about supporting and empowering their students. They share this passion with thousands of other teachers through their shared Instagram account (@doubledutyteachers) and their annual Teach Out Loud conference.
After their state standards were updated in 2023, the two teachers implemented Studies Weekly Social Studies.
“Previously, we were pulling together activities and resources from all over the place to meet our standards. With Studies Weekly, everything is together in one place — so easy to implement!”
Morgan reflects, “I was so intimidated to teach about Ancient Civilizations when I myself barely had the background knowledge on the topic. Studies Weekly made it easy for me to learn along with my students by providing everything I needed.”
As gifted education teachers, Morgan and Taylor love the extension activities that allow their students to further their knowledge of the material.
“The research projects, presentations, games, etc. that we get to play extend our learning, make the lessons more engaging, and allow my students to dig deeper.”
When asked what they would say to teachers considering Studies Weekly, they advised:
“I’m already begging my district to repurchase it for next year! I would tell someone that it’s a no-brainer. Everything you need is ready to go- including lessons, activities, tests, answer keys, teacher guides, and more. Another great thing is all of this is available in print and online! Students find it engaging, and teachers find it easy to implement.”
